DRUGSTORE BREAK-UP: Make your own facemask

Unless I have to buy bandaids, I don’t want to ever go back into a Shoppers Drug Mart. Everything I leave there, it’s at least $50 bucks. On what? Who knows. Weird shampoo? When I was younger, I used to buy the little face masks they had, those one-time use packages. I was a student, so the $1.99 price tag seemed like a good bargain and a cheap date with a hot bath. Fast forward a a decade and a half and I still think a hot bath is a great idea for staying in. Except now I make my own face masks, and they cost more like $0.15. If only my poor student self had known better. Ugh, I was so dumb.

HOW-TO

This is SO! EASY! It’s moisturizing and you probably already have the ingredients in your cupboard. If you have any leftover, it keeps for a few days. Or, invite a girlfriend and have a sleepover. Just add wine freshly pressed cucumber/mint juice.

Good for soothing irritated or dry skin. Especially nice in the winter months, or if you have eczema. Technically it is edible too.

Mix up and put on just before getting into the bath. Leave it on while you soak and rinse off in the shower afterwards.

First, go round up your ingredients.

Then, mix them all together. Quite a bit. Especially if you are not using liquid honey.

It should be really nice and blended. Make sure all the honey is mixed in and not just sitting around in lumps. Kinda looks like breakfast now. Nice bonus – totally edible, if you want a snack.

And that’s it!

Put it all over your face, throw some epsom salts and lavender oil in the bathwater. Prop your laptop up on the toilet with the latest episode of The Good Wife and you’re ready to go. Rinse off after and always, always, moisturize.

OATMEAL FACE MASK

1.5 tbps rolled oats
1.5 tbps yogurt
1 tbsp honey
1/4 lemon, squeezed

Mix everything together.

Lasts for about 3-4 days refrigerated.

So awesome! Definitely trying this when I get home because the cold weather really messes with my skin!
